There are multiple challenges encountered in developing the small islands throughout Indonesian Archipelago. One of them is costly transportation to connect one island to another. To develop the transportation sector in those island will require adequate infrastructures in a small island of 2000 km2 and 200.000 populations supposedly needs at least IDR 60 trilions. This Book in the sense of utilizing the coastal and small island resources through sustainable developmet for economic, conservation, and community benefits. This book contains programs and all activities of the Directorate General of Marine Coastal and Small Islands Affairs (DG-MSCIA) from the following aspect; investment expansionin small island; sea grant capacity building and empowerment of coastal and small island community.
