Indonesia's textile culture includes a large repertoire of techniques, the best-known of which is perhaps the dye-resist technique universally referred to as ikat weaving. Tradisional textiles have particular functions in the social, religious, aesthetic, and economic aspects of community life in Indonesia. This book aims to explore the intricate yet complicated culture of ikat weaving in Indonesia.
