The ATSEA-2 Project is the second phase of the GEF/UNDP/PEMSEA and is designed to enhance the regional collaboration and coordination across the Arafura and Timor Seas (ATS) region, which is composed of Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste. The project focuses on supporting implementation of the 10-year (2014-2024) ATS Strategic Action Programme (SAP) that was endorsed through a Ministerial Declaration in 2014. The long-term objective of the SAP is "to promote the sustainable development of the ATS region to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants through restoration, conservation and sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems."
