A Case Study of National Regulation on Preserving Hammerhead Sharks (Sphyrna spp.) in Indonesia

In response to the inclusion of some shark species into CITES Appendix II in CITES CoP 16 in Bangkok 2013, Indonesia has established export prohibition policy on Carcharhinus longimamus and Sphyrna spp. as precautionary measure due to the absence of Non-Detriment Findings at appropriate time specified. This study is aimed to analyze the implementation of export prohibition policy with case study on Sphyrna spp. in order to determine whether or not the aforementioned policy has been implemented as appropriate management measure for the preservation of Sphyrna spp. in Indonesia.
