Physiological Responses During Simulated Live Transport and the Recovery Period of Greenlip Abalone (Haliotis laevigata)

Greenlip abalone (Haliotislaevigata) area high value commodity, exported from Western Australia. It is recognised that if more live product is to be exported, that transport method will need to be refined. This study examines the effects of precooled and non precooled temperature treatments on physiological responses during transport simulation at time intervals of 0,12,24,36 and 48 hours and a recovery period of 3 days. Survival, weight loss and mortality rateshave been recoreded during simulated transport and recovery.
