ASEAN vision 2020 : problems and prospects

The issues covered in this book-the Asean vision 2020, the Ha Noi Plan of Action and ASEAN's relations with China, Japan and South Korea (ASEAN+3)-are of immense importance because they reflect the prevailing thoughts in the region to deal with the post Cold War era. It also reflects the organization's strategy to continue to thrive in a globalized world. For Indonesia, ASEAN remains the cornerstone of its foreign policy. Indonesia on the other hand, continues to serves as the organization's anchor. Indonesia believes that ASEAN's cohesion and solidarity are essential for ASEAN to continue to thrive and to be able to play a significant role for regional stability and prosperity. At the same time, it also emphasizes the importance of ASEAN's outward-looking stance, including in the context of ASEAN+3.
