Highly diverse and productive coral reefs, fast growing mangrove forests, fisheries of many varieties and clean tropical marine waters and the basis of the resource system which has supported coastal communities in the Philippines since people first arrived. Now, these resources are threatened with overexploitation, destruction and pollution. This book helps us value these ecosystems and their products so that we can be better stewards and managers. It is we that must improve our ways and defining value may be the key to this change.
