The Assessment on Mobula Rays (Mobula spp.) Management in Indonesia
Mobula ays (Mobula spp.) are planktivorous elasmobranchs that have a conservative life history, making them highly vulnerable to over exploitation. At the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP17), these species were officially included in Appendix II of CITES, which would ensure that any international trade of gill plates, cartilage or meat would be regulated and only permitted if originating from a sustainable stock. This research aims to know the current status and conditions of mobula rays management in Indonesia and also to reflect the possible implication that will happen as the impact of mobula rays listing especially to the fisheries community in Indonesia.
