Proceeding of International Symposium on Marine Biotechnology (ISMB 2000)
As the biggest maritime country in the world, which own a mega biodiversity, Indonesia has a great potential to develop industrial marine biotechnology that is expected to give a significant impact on Indonesia economic development. The challenge is how to integrate marine biodiversity, biotechnology and business, so as to conserve and sustainably exploit the rich marine biological resources. The International Symposium on Marine Biotechnology was successfully held in Jakarta, Indonesia 29-31 May 2000 with the opening speech by The Minister of Sea Exploration and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia.
