Abstract/Notes | Bacterial-infection diseases are one of the oldest illnes that still being primary health problem in the development of grouper cultivayion. Antibiotic as definitive drug has become less effective due to antibiotic resistance. this phenomenone forces researcher to find alternative for herbal plant like garlic. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of garlic extract on Vibrio alginolyticus bacteria. This was laboratic analitics experiment with completely randomized design on March to April 2017 in Fish quarantine station of quality control and safety of fishery laboratory class II baubau. The sample of this study is Vibrio alginolyticus which was isolated from tiger grouper. Garlic extraction was done mechanically with aquades as the solvent with a concentration of 10%, 20%, and 30%. Antibacterial activity of garlic was tested by difussion method (Kirby Bauer Disk Diffusion) using paper disc to determine diameter of bacterial growth inhibition zones. The result showed average diameter of inhibition zone of V.alginolyticus with a concentration garlic extract of 10% = 12.25 mm, 20% = 15,21 mm and 30% = 17.19 mm. From this study it can be concluded that garlic extract has activity as an antibacterial with DNA synthesis bonds, RNA, and proteins that are essential for its growth. |
