Abstract/Notes Present and future potential problems of water pollution affecting freshwater fisheries in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philipines have been examined, together with current and proposed methods of prevention and control of such problems. Suggestions are offered on future copperative action that might be taken in the region. These include recommendations for the establishment of a working group on water quality criteria and for the consolidation of information on simple treatment procedures used in the region.
