Abstract/Notes	A Certain imbalance has come to exist between knowledge of the fisheries of lakes and those of rivers. Possibly in response to the outburst of major dam construction during the 1960s and considerable literature appeared dealing with the ecology of lacustrine fish stocks. This book is intended partially to compensate for this lack by assembling information on the way in which the riverine environment and the fish stocks in habiting it respond to the various demands made ofthe resource.
