The fish are, however, a very heterogencous assemblage and the distine-tionns between fish and members of other animal groups are not always so clearcut. Whilst therebis no pretence that this book is a panacea. it is hoped that college students and teachers will find much of interest. The book has been written primarily to meet the needs of the undergraduate student taking courses in fish biology as part of a degree programme in zoology, biology, or aquatic biosciiences, but it is to be hoped that students of aquaculture, fish eries and resource management, and comparative physiology will also find much to whet their appelites.
