Abstract/Notes Research on reproductive biology of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) was conducted at the Gondol Research Institute for Mariculture. Yellowfin gonads were sampled from Indian Ocean fish landed at Benoa, Bali between March to August
2003. We examined 203 yellowfin ovaries by histology. Only three fish had mature gonads. The results show that yellowfin are multiple spawners with asynchronous oocytes. The batch fecundity of the six mature fish were 1.1 to 3.1 millions oocytes. The relative fecundities were 26.1 to 57.1 oocytes/g. The mean diameter of these oocyte was 800 urn
