Initially acknowledged as an important tool for integrating and analyzing spatial information, GIS emerged as a powerrful technology for coordinating the work of an organization around a common, shared geographic database. The architecture of GIS for the future is focusing on creating a global framework that integrates the physical, social, biological, and environmental aspects of lif.
